IMPORTANT PROGRAM & CONTRACTOR UPDATE

As of July 1, 2024, the My Safe Florida Home Program is allowing homeowners to choose any Certified Florida State contractor to make reimbursable upgrades to their homes.
To be eligible to make any recommended home-hardening improvements for reimbursement, designated Contractors must:

  1. Be licensed and certified with the state of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation as:

    • General Contractor

    • Building Contractor

    • Residential Contractor

    • Specialty Contractor

    • Roofing Contractor

  1. Maintain appropriate insurance as required under Rule 61G4-15.003, F.A.C.

  2. Maintain Workers’ Compensation coverage for all employees as required by chapter 440, F.S.

Homeowners can find all state licensed Florida Contractors at the Florida Department of Business Professional Regulation website here

The My Safe Florida Home Program will no longer maintain or provide grantees with a list of authorized program contractors or require their use for new MSFH program construction.  The MSFH Authorized Contractor Program ends June 30, 2024.

It will now be up to every MSFH Grantee/homeowner to find and manage their own eligible contractor and relationship. The program and FL Dept. of Financial Services is not responsible for or involved in any way with the grantee’s contractor selection and/or the grantee construction and payment process.

Homeowners can find all licensed Florida Contractors at the Florida Department of Business Professional Regulation website here.

 DISCLAIMER

The My Safe Florida Home Program (DFS) is not responsible for work performed by the certified independent Florida contractors selected by the grantee/homeowner. My Safe Florida Home Program does not provide any warranties or guarantees, express or implied, regarding the work performed by grantee selected contractors. Any disputes regarding work performed by contractors must be resolved between the homeowner/client and the contractor. By participating in the My Safe Florida Home Program, the homeowner/grant recipient agrees to hold My Safe Florida Home Program (DFS) harmless and release the program from any and all liability related to the work of the contractors they select for work.

Do you agree to be listed as a participating LOW INCOME contractor in the MSFH program operating under 2023-24 rules?

We have 2,000 Low Income grants made before July 1 that must operate under the old 2023-24 program rules and be paid directly to the participating contractor. For contractors working on these OLD RULE grants, you will be paid directly by the program like last year. To facilitate this process:

    • Existing Contractors: Are you already registered in the existing contractor portal and have an MSFH contractor ID number? Confirm your old information here.

    • New Contractors: If you are new to the program but have Low Income Grants under the old rules, click here and register so we can pay you when the work is done.

    • Uncertain Contractors: If you are not sure, click here and search your Low Income Case IDs numbers to see.
